Slow Cooker Hamburger Casserole Recipe

  • 1 pound Ground Beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 4 medium Russet Potatoes
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) Cream of Mushroom Soup (or substitute with cream of chicken/celery soup)
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese (cheddar or other varieties)
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 medium Diced Onion
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper (to taste)
  • Optional: Garlic powder, red pepper flakes (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preparation of Ingredients:
    – Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small pieces, and drain excess fat.
    – Wash, peel, and slice the russet potatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices.
    – Finely dice the onion.
    – In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. Layering the Casserole:
    – Spray the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
    – Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom, followed by half of the browned ground beef and half of the sauce mixture. Sprinkle some of the shredded cheese on top.
    – Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients, finishing with cheese on top.
  3. Cooking:
    – Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or until the potatoes are tender.
    – Allow the casserole to rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
